In modern days, famous ghetto art can be found in a myriad of places.
Graffiti art / Ghetto art became widespread in the 20th century in the New York City subway system as an extension of the hip hop culture that rose in popularity in the late 1900′s.
Ghetto art is also prevalent in the UK, most notably works of anonymous graffiti artist Banksy who’s stenciled images adorn the sides of public buildings and billboards with messages of political and social commentary.
There is also a growing capital of ghetto art in South America, most recognizably in São Paulo, Brazil, which has become known as a “shrine to graffiti.”
In the Middle East, graffiti has slowly begun to grow in the Emirate countries, such as Iran, Israel and United Arab Emirates.
